PET BLESSINGS:
" Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France
Each year on or near the Feast Day of St. Francis, which falls on October 4th, there are requests for a liturgy of blessing for animals. Saint Francis is known as the patron saint, or special protector, of all animals. Owner Families may select a simple ceremony held at your home to bless your pet(s). Gather your pets wherever appropriate (in your home, backyard, patio, deck or courtyard) or we may gather with friends where you generally view animals near your home (nearby park, etc.).
Something appropriately Franciscan and short will be offered. After all the animals are not going to be impressed by even the most eloquent of preachers. The two prose selections offered here are, of course, by St. Francis.
Holy Scripture says: A righteous man regards the life of his animal (Proverbs 12:10).
"You can judge a society by the way it treats its animals ~ Mahatma Gandhi

PET MEMORIAL CEREMONY:
"God speaks when tails wag, hearts purr and voices whinney. " ~ Author Unknown
A Pet Memorial Ceremony (and/or burial) brings people together to honor and "Celebrate the Life" of your beloved pet. They provide an opportunity to say good-bye and a chance to say “thank you” for your pet’s many years of friendship, love, and simple devotion.

Pets bring us so much joy, laughter, companionship and comfort that they truly become a part of our families. We live with them, if we're lucky, for many years. We come to know them as individual beings--their habits and quirks, their endearing little ways--and get so accustomed to having them around that it's hard to picture a time when they won't be there.
So, in this ceremony, we will focus on the Love you have for your pet and the Love your pet had for you. We will share fond memories of your pet (owner or Celebrant tells the pet’s life story; then, others may be invited to briefly share a favorite moment or memory of your beloved animal).

HOUSE BLESSING:
Your house symbolic of your safe, restorative bodily dwelling. Historically the blessing of your home is a spiritual, religious ceremony found in all the major religions, customs and cultures of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism in which your house is blessed, room by room, through the prayers and rituals offered by ordained religious clergy, such as a priest or pastor, along with the owners, their family occupants and friends as participants and representatives of the community of faith, thereby marking your house and your lives as a home of God's Loving Protective Presence.
In this Ceremony celebrating Love in your home and in your lives we will be using the symbols of both light and sprinkled water reminding us that our lives are sacramental.
House Blessings may take place before or even after moving-in, but are traditionally blessed at Epiphany (on January 6), Spring or Autumn harvest season.
